ICELT is a highly practical course. It supports you to reflect on your teaching and apply your learning in the classroom..


The ICELT course will extend your knowledge of teaching methodologies and develop your understanding of the principles underlying language learning and teaching.


Courses are run by approved centres, based on our syllabus and course objectives. The exact course programme is designed by your centre to reflect the teaching context and needs of the course participants.

You will be awarded a grade for each assessment component and an overall grade.

The grades awarded are:

  • Pass with Distinction
  • Pass with Merit
  • Pass.

You will gain the full ICELT qualification when you achieve a Pass or higher in all three assessment components.

If you complete Module One as a stand-alone module, you will be awarded an ICELT Language for Teacherscertificate. If you complete Module Two as a stand-alone module, you will be awarded an ICELT Teaching and Methodology certificate. If you decide to complete the other module at a later time, you will then receive theICELT certificate.
