Frequently Asked Questions

ABOUT TEFL

Does your course offer any certification on conclusion?

What we give you is a TEFL Certificate with a course description and a performance report. Besides, we help/ train you for the TKT (Cambridge Teaching Exams) which you can take in Asturias if there are more than 4 participants or in Madrid or Barcelona depending on the dates.

As this course follows the Cambridge teaching programme, will I receive the same title?

The qualification you will receive will be "TEFL Certificate". CELTA and Trinity TESOL are brand names. We offer the same basic content but CELTA is 120 hours and Trinity 140  and only aimed at adults and we offer 180 hours and we include Young learners and CLIL which can be certified through the Cambridge TKT (teaching knowledge tests).

 Where are the classes held?

The classes are held in our Centre and teching practice is done in an associated language academy.

What country options do I have upon completion?
Our programme is oriented to the teaching of English as a Foreign Language, so the reply would be: any country. However, Spain is a big market and if you start a network in Spain you'll probably want to stay here.

What is the approximate pay?
The pay is around 1200€ per month, both for the summer camps and for yearly courses as from the fall, for about 30 hours a week. Conditions and bonuses depend on contract and employer.

Upon completion of the course, when could I start working?
That depends on demand, summer camps start in July and finish end of August and regular courses start beginning of October till  mid-June.

ABOUT TKT

Is it possible to do one of your TKT courses without doing one of your TEFL courses?

Yes, the TKT courses offer an external validation to our TEFL Courses but you needn't do the full programme to pass the TKT exams

I have a TEFL qualification already but I don,t have any teaching experience.  Would the TKT course help me to get a job in Spain?

With regards to getting a job, you could say that the Young Learners module or the CLIL module can be considered specialisations, the other modules would just validate the knowledge you acquired when you did your TEFL Certificate. If you have a CELTA or a Trinity TEFL you don't need the TKT as further proof of your qualification.

ABOUT POST-TEFL COURSES

I would like to know which certification program would serve best for someone who has been teaching for over nine years.

If you had some initial training and you have been teaching a range of levels you maybe interested in the ICELT equivalent programme.

What I am looking for is further qualifications, because I am trying to find a job working abroad!

In that case, maybe you could choose to specialise in Teaching English for Business (TEFB), there's a growing market in the In-company sector here in Asturias and it may open a new string of job opportunities.

ABOUT SPECIALISATION MODULES

What is required to teach the summer camps?
Mainly, the ability and the ideas to keep a group of multi-level and multi-age children motivated and entertained while learning English both indoors and outdoors

ABOUT THE STAY

Is it possible to arrange accommodation?

We can give you a list of email addresses and recommend websites where you can find flats to share and we can also talk to the people here and help you with the Spanish you may need to negotiate.
